Teacher tip!
We recommend printing the task cards in colour and laminating them for durability and future use. We also made these task cards to fit perfectly in photo storage cases which we purchased at Michaels craft store, Wayfair, or Amazon! We also used Velcro for the animal sorting cards and sequencing routines task cards. We purchased our Velcro in bulk on Amazon.
How to use this product:
Day & Night Sorting Task Cards
Students can work independently, in partners, or small groups. They will sort 15 task cards under the category of Day or Night.
Day & Night Animal Sorting Task Cards
Students can work independently, in partners, or small groups. They will sort 6 animal task cards under the category of Day or Night. The focus here is for students to identify animals that are awake in the day or up all night! You can use the word nocturnal for an added a challenge.
Daytime & Nighttime Routines Sequencing Cards
Students can work independently, in partners, or small groups. There are 15 visuals that can be sorted in groups of 3. Students will take 3 visuals and sequence them in order of occurrence in their daily or nightly routine. For example: I take a bath, put on my pajamas, and go to bed.
Day & Night T-Charts with Visuals
Simply print these worksheets and you're ready to go. Students will need scissors and glue for these worksheets. Students will have to cut and paste 8 pictures into activities you do in the daytime or activities you do in the nighttime. In the other T-Chart worksheet, students will have to cut and paste 6 animals into animals you see in the day or animals you see awake at night.
Day & Night Mini Books
My students LOVE these mini books. The 4 page book includes a cover, sentence about what you see in the sky during the day or night, an opportunity to draw a picture of something you would see in the day or night sky (examples: one of my students drew a rainbow in the day book and a rocket ship in the night book), and a page to colour the pictures of the routines you would do in the day or night.
Read, Build, Trace, and Write it!
These worksheets also require zero prep, print and go! Students will need: scissors, glue, and a writing utensil. Students first read the sentence, cut and paste the words to build the sentence, trace the letters to form the sentence, then print it themselves. This was great to use as extra printing, tracing, and copying practice with our students who have difficulty printing. It can also be incorporated into word work or writing practice in your literacy centres.
We would love to hear what you thought of our science mini unit or how you used it in your classroom! Don't forget to check out our teachers pay teachers store for more great resources!
